How Rebound Authenticates Shoes
Our Partnership with VerifyPro Authentication
At Rebound by SDO, we're committed to providing our customers with high-quality used shoes that are not only eco-friendly but also accurately represented. That's why we've partnered with VerifyPro Authentication, for certified inspectors who use a comprehensive checklist for used footwear condition assessment and brand authentication.
Condition Verification Process
Every pair at SDO Rebound goes through a detailed inspection and cleaning process before it hits our shelves, ensuring every shoe lives up to our quality standards, so you can shop with total confidence.
Our certified inspectors carefully grade each shoe’s condition using our 5-tier SDO code system.
- NMB (Like New; Missing Box) Unworn and unused. You’ll get the original shoe, just without the original box.May have: No issues: — looks and feels brand new.
- ULN (Like New; Nearly Perfect) Unworn and unused. May or may not come in the original box.May have: Faint discoloration or minor factory flaws that don’t affect wear.
- UVG (Used; Very Good) Gently worn, but still in excellent shape. May have: Light tread wear, minor creasing, or faint marks.
- UGD (Used; Good) Worn with minor cosmetic flaws, but still plenty of life left. May have: Noticeable tread wear, scuffs, or some discoloration.
- UAI (Used; As-Is) Signs of wear but totally wearable. Priced accordingly and final sale. May have: Moderate wear, deeper creases, or visible flaws — but still ready to hit the pavement.
We don’t list anything that doesn’t meet Rebound’s baseline standards. If a pair is too worn, we’ll recycle or donate it, but we won’t pass it off to you.
Brand Authentication Process
-
Box Check
- Label Accuracy: Experts check that the box label matches the shoe model, colorway, size, style code, and production date.
- Font and Spacing: Even small inconsistencies in font weight, kerning, or barcode placement can reveal a fake.
- Box Construction: Counterfeit boxes often use cheaper cardboard or have incorrect dimensions.
-
Material Inspection
- Material Odor: Authentic shoes tend to have a more subtle factory scent. Fakes often reek of glue or plastic due to lower-grade materials.
- Touch and Texture: Quality shoes use premium materials with consistent textures and finishes. Fake ones may feel too stiff, too soft, or just “off”.
- Weight: Authentic shoes often have a heavier, sturdier feel.
-
Stitching and Build Quality
- Precision: High-end brands use specific stitching patterns and standards that are often sloppy or incorrect on replicas.
- Glue Marks or Flaws: Excess glue, uneven midsoles, or loose threads are common on fakes.
-
Logos and Branding
- Logos: Experts look at logo and icon placement, curvature, thickness, and angle.
- Insoles & Tags: Brand-name shoes tend to have well-printed insole logos, accurate sizing tags, and correct manufacturing codes that correspond to known factories and dates.
-
Production Code Check
- Style Code Verification:(ex: CT8527-100) can be checked against a brand’s official product catalog.
- Factory and Date Match: Tag info is cross-checked to see if that colorway was ever made at that factory, during that time.
Cleaning Process
Our inspectors clean every pair using a shoe-safe brush, spot cleaner, and deodorizer, so it’s freshened up for your feet.
